Edgar Charcos couldn't buy a basket for University of Perpetual Help, Friday at Filoil Flying V Centre.
That was until the last seven minutes when he scored five straight points that ultimately turned into a much-needed 85-83 triumph for the Altas over hapless College of St. Benilde.
The Las Pinas-based team trailed by as much as 15 in the first half before coming alive after halftime - except Charcos, that is, as he was scoreless, going 0-of-8 from the field and 0-of-2 from the line after three quarters.
With the two teams tied at 66-all inside the last eight minutes, however, the graduating guard hit a floater and then a triple to kickstart the killer 15-4 run that boosted them ahead, 81-70.
Carlo Young and the Blazers kept coming, however, and were still threatening at 81-83 in the dying moments, but Kim Aurin converted his couple of charities to keep them at bay once and for all.
Aurin wound up with a career-high 29 points on top of 11 rebounds while Jielo Razon and Tonton Peralta also added 15 and 11 markers, respectively.
