BAGUIO CITY, Philippines -- Manny Pacquiao got up early on Wednesday morning for his workout.
The world champion got into his Special Utility Vehicle (SUV) and headed to Burnham Park with his training team.
Before getting into a run, Manny did a little loosening up and stretching exercises.
Pacquiao went 6 rounds around the jogging track along the park.
I joined the first round, and even from the start, his pace was quite fast.
Fans and regular Baguio joggers were thrilled to see their idol.
Many people tried to run alongside him but also could not keep up.
Pacman the dog also ran around with his master.
The overcast weather was perfect for the run. Manny thoroughly enjoyed the sweat.
After 30 minutes, he switched to some wind sprints. It's the kind of explosive speed that he will take to the ring against Mexican Antonio Margarito.
The shadow boxing routine was also impressive.
Fans circled Pacquiao, totally awed by his agility and quickness.
Because of his constant aggressiveness on the ring, Manny needs to be in 100 percent condition to execute the fight plan.
“Ang jogging, mahalaga para sa stamina. Importante ‘yan sa boxing (Jogging is important for stamina. It’s important for boxing),” said Pacquiao.
Fitness coach Alex Ariza said there is a lot of work to be done, and assured that Manny will be in tip-top shape for the November 13 battle.
“We haven't started any real hard work yet so once we get into that, then we'll start seeing the physical changes,” said Ariza.
Pacquiao is very psyched for the challenge ahead, and he expects a heated battle against the Mexican.
Manny will spend the next 3 weeks training in Baguio.
From Baguio, the team will move on to the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles.
A week before the fight, Pacquiao will travel to Dallas, Texas to chase a record 8th world title.
