Rookie Xyrus Torres went online, Saturday at MOA Arena, as Far Eastern University warded off Adamson University, 83-71, and ultimately wrested away a much-needed mighty rebound in the UAAP 82 Men's Basketball Tournament.
The first-year swingman found his touch and finished with 21 points to shoot the Tamaraws back into the win column now at 3-4. "All we wanted was to win our last game in the first round. That was the very objective of this game," consultant Nash Racela said after they moved into a three-team logjam for the fourth-seed.
Torres' back-to-back bombs highlighted the 13-2 blast that widened a once five-point gap, 55-50, late in the third quarter to a 68-52 lead entering the final frame.
