MANILA- Justin Brownlee made sure that Barangay Ginebra would open the 2019 PBA Governors' Cup on a high note, as the celebrated import powered the Gin Kings to a 102-83 demolition of the Alaska Aces on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.
Brownlee put up 30 points and 22 rebounds as the Gin Kings erased Alaska's 7-0 start to the game and seized a 29-13 lead after the opening quarter.
They never looked back from there, and wound up leading by as much as 24 points, 101-77, on a Julian Sargent lay-up in the closing stretch of the game.
Greg Slaughter had 16 points and 8 rebounds, Stanley Pringle added 10 points and 6 assists, and Art dela Cruz scored 12 points. Japeth Aguilar, playing just 22 minutes off the bench, had 8 points and 11 rebounds for Ginebra.
