MANILA, Philippines – Jose Rizal University and Letran will try to end their NCAA Season 92 campaign on a bright note as they take on San Sebastian and Emilio Aguinaldo, respectively, on Thursday at the Arena in San Juan.
With all four squads already out of the Final Four picture, the Bombers and the Stags battle each other at 2 p.m., while the Knights and the Generals meet at 4 p.m. hoping to salvage a measure of pride.
Jose Rizal is currently at fifth place with a 9-8 win-loss record, while dethroned champion Letran is at No. 6 with an 8-9 mark.
San Sebastian (7-10) and EAC (6-11) are just behind in the league standings.
All four teams are looking to gain experience as they regroup and begin preparations for next year's NCAA campaign.
"This is still a young team, and we are looking forward to adding a few more players to fill in for things that we're missing this year," said Letran coach Jeff Napa.
EAC mentor Ariel Sison also sees a bright future for the much-improved Generals.
"[Only] Remy Morada and Igee King are on their last year, so we have an almost intact line-up next season," said Sison, who will still have team captain Francis Munsayac, Sidney Onwubere, and Cameroonian Hamadou Laminou next year.
San Sebastian coach Egay Macaraya is also happy with how the Stags have turned things around after opening the season by losing nine of their first ten games.
"We had the misfortune of seeing some of our top players getting injured at the start of the season," said Macaraya.
"But we're happy we made a big leap in the second round, which we could bring into the next season," he added.
