In order to force a victory against legendary Japanese grappler Shinya Aoki, Honorio Banario will have to weather an early storm from the "Tobikan Judan."

Former ONE lightweight champion Eduard Folayang, who has fought Aoki twice, said Banario will have to follow their game plan well to hack out a win against the Japanese fighter in Part II of the ONE: Century on October 13 at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan.

“If Honorio manages to get out of the first round and lands clean shots, he’ll be able to get it,” Folayang said in a report by ABS-CBN Sports.

“So far, he’s prepared well. Honorio really wants to win this fight. It’s MMA, you can never tell what’s going to happen. You can’t say it will be one-sided because Honorio has knockout power as well.”

Folayang said Banario need more than just defending submission attempts.

“I think staying calm in certain situations will be critical. It’s going to be in the mindset. When you have that, you won’t fall easily into his trap. Everything goes together when you’re mentally prepared - but of course, you also have to be physically ready,” he said.

Folayang has already fought Aoki twice in his career.

The first time he fought the Tobikan Judan (grand master of flying submissions) was in November 2016 when Folayang pulled off the technical knockout to win the ONE lightweight title.

In their rematch in Tokyo, Japan Aoki avenged his defeat with a triangle choke in the first round.
