MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATE 2) Ateneo de Manila University star guard Kiefer Ravena is the Most Valuable Player of the UAAP Season 77 men's basketball tournament after topping the statistical points (SPs) race at the end of the double elimination rounds.

In the final list of UAAP statistics courtesy of Smart Bro, Ravena averaged a league-leading 21.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 1.5 steals per game to lead Ateneo to an 11-3 record and the top seed at the end of the eliminations.

He was the runaway leader in terms of statistical points, finishing with 77.64 SPs after 14 games.

De La Salle University's Jeron Teng was a far second in the MVP race with 68.21 SPs. Last season's Finals MVP averaged 18.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 4.0 assists in leading the defending champions to a 10-4 record and a berth in the Final Four.

Versatile Far Eastern University (FEU) forward Mac Belo was third in the SPs list with 61.29, followed by Ateneo forward Chris Newsome with 60.64 SPs.

Veteran University of Santo Tomas (UST) center Karim Abdul rounded out the top five with a total of 57.62 SPs.

The rest of the top 10 are as follows: National University's (NU) Alfred Aroga (53.86 SPs); FEU's Mike Tolomia (53.79 SPs); NU's Troy Rosario (52.79 SPs); La Salle's Jason Perkins (52. 29 SPs); and Adamson's Don Trollano (50.69 SPs).

Meanwhile, the Rookie of the Year award will go to Ateneo's Arvin Tolentino, who led all freshmen players with 40.21 SPs after averaging 8.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.

NU's Afril Bernardino is the MVP of the women's tournament after finishing the elimination round with 69.57 SPs and leading the Lady Bulldogs to an undefeated season.

Ateneo's Danica Jose (66.86 SPs) came in second place, followed by UST's Lore Rivera (63.36 SPs). NU's Shelley Gupilan (56.93 SPs) and NU's Gemma Miranda (56.57 SPs) round out the top five in the women's division.

Statistical points are the lone basis for determining the winners of the UAAP's individual awards. It is computed by adding the total points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks of each player and subtracting total turnovers and penalty points. A 15-point bonus for every game won is added, and the total is divided over games played.

A player is deducted five points for every technical foul and unsportsmanlike foul, and 10 points if he is ejected from a game.

According to UAAP statistician Pong Ducanes, Ravena's 77.64 SPs is the highest recorded in the league since the UAAP adopted the formula.

'It doesn't end here'
