Tennis: Pinoy teen Matthew Garcia seeks juniors title No. 2 in Sri Lanka

Filipino prospect Matthew Garcia and playing partner Tanapat Nirudorn of Thailand booked a finals berth in Week 2 of the ITF Juniors Grade 5 Tennis Championships in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Garcia and Tanapat beat the Chinese-Taipei pair of Nan Hsun Lin and Kai Shiang Yang 6-0, 6-3 to advance to the final round of the boys doubles competition.

Garcia, the 16-year-old son of former tennis player and current ABS-CBN correspondent Dyan Castillejo, teamed up with Tanapat to continue their dominance in the under-18 boys doubles category.

They will take on South Koreans Hyeoung Jin Kim and Sunwoo Kim in the finals on Saturday.

Garcia and Tanapat also came up victorious in Week 1 of the ITF tournament by outlasting the duo Subash Paramasivam of India and Arjun Sriram of the US 6-2, 6-1 in the finals.
