Members of Jerwin Ancajas' camp acknowledged being excited upon learning that Thai superstar Srisaket Sor Rungvisai expressed interest in a possible title unification showdown.

"Akala namin kami lang ang parang humahabol sa kaniya," said Ancajas' coach and manager, Joven Jimenez, in a recent interview. "Nagulat din kami nu'ng binanggit niya na parang hinahabol din niya si Jerwin."

Ancajas owns the International Boxing Federation junior bantamweight crown, while Srisaket holds the World Boxing Council title.

He feels flattered to hear that the Thai fighter considers him as an equal.

"Sikat siya tapos napansin niya ako. Kung plano ng matchmaker at promoter ko na isabak ako sa unification, handa ako. Excited akong ma-unify ang belts," said Ancajas, who is already priming himself for a title defense against Alejandro Santiago Barrio late this months.

Srisaket became the undisputed lineal champion in the junior bantamweight division after he toppled then pound-for-pound king Roman Gonzalez in 2017.

Srisaket wanted to unify his belt with Ancajas' to establish a boxing legacy.

But Jimenez and Ancajas said the final decision will come from matchmaker Sean Gibbons and promoter Bob Arum.

"Kung ano'ng gusto nilang mangyari, sunod lang kami. Sila naman ang nakakaalam kung ano'ng dapat puntahan ni Jerwin dahil promoter sila," said the boxing mentor.

However, he feels good about Ancajas' chances against Srisaket.

"Eager kaming makalaban 'yan. Bigatin ang pangalan at sa tingin namin kayang kaya namin siya," he said.

Ancajas said all he needs is a go-signal from his bosses.

"Kung nandyan ang opportunity, willing akong lumaban," he said.

Srisaket is slated to defend his title against Mexico's Iran Diaz in October.
