MANILA, Philippines -- Lyceum of the Philippines University looks to take one more step towards an elimination round sweep when it faces off against Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) in the NCAA Season 94 men’s basketball tournament on Thursday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The Pirates improved to 11-0 in the season after defeating Jose Rizal University (JRU), 82-76, last Friday and will try to extend that streak to 12 games when they play the Generals at 2 p.m.

However, Lyceum coach Topex Robinson insists they are not looking at a possible sweep -- something they achieved in Season 93 en route to their first-ever finals appearance.

“We’ll just try to focus on what we need to do each game, and try to improve in whatever we do,” said Robinson. “If it comes, it comes.”

Robinson is more concerned about his team’s consistency, which was tested in their close win over the Heavy Bombers last Friday.

The Pirates trailed against JRU early in the fourth quarter, 63-68, before finding its rhythm in time to surge to victory.

The Generals (2-8) also gave Lyceum a scare when they met in the first round last July 13, but the Pirates dominated the fourth period to claim a 106-97 win.

“Every game is a learning experience,” said Robinson. “It’s part of the process for us to reach our goal, which is to position ourselves to winning a championship.”

CJ Perez will once again be the focal point of Lyceum’s attack, as the reigning league MVP has averaged 21.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 3.6 steals per game this season.

Meanwhile, JRU (2-9) and Mapua University (2-8) try to breathe some life to their dying Final Four hopes when they collide at 4 p.m.
