MANILA – When the time comes and Manny Pacquiao finally suits up for a basketball game in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), he will be a marked man.

The Meralco Bolts’ Gary David said he and his fellow guards intend to give Pacquiao the best kind of opposition on the hard court.

David said he already conferred with his team mates in Gilas about the boxing’s superstar’s playing days in the PBA.

“We have talked a lot about that in Spain. The concession is that if Pacquiao can really play, well and good. If not, he can expect the toughest baptism of fire in his life,” said David in the PBA website.

“As for myself, I really intend to defend him very hard in the event we’re matched up with one another. Jayson [Castro] and LA [Tenorio] were saying they will steal the ball from him,” he added.

Pacquiao, the 8-division boxing champion, was picked 11th overall by KIA Sorentos in the PBA draft. He became the league’s oldest and shortest basketball rookie.

He will also serve as KIA’s head coach.

However, his playing days will have to take the backseat for a while since he still has to fight Chris Algieri in November.
