President Rodrigo Duterte attended the opening ceremony of the 2019 FIBA World Cup on Friday night, joining Chinese President Xi Jinping during lavish rites held in Beijing.

Duterte, who was accompanied by Cabinet members in China for bilateral talks with Xi's counterparts, is expected to watch the Philippines men's national basketball team play Italy on Saturday night.
