Robert Bolick of San Beda was the biggest name for Team Saints, but it was Michael Calisaan of San Sebastian who lifted the squad past Team Heroes 94-89 Friday night in the NCAA all-star game at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.
Calisaan had a double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds to power the Boyet Fernandez-coached Saints to the win, their second in a row over the Heroes after an 84-80 triumph a season ago.
It was a performance that earned Calisaan the all-star MVP award.
The Saints paraded a strong cast featuring Bolick and Javee Mocon of the defending champion Red Lions, Letran’s Bong Quinto and Sen Sebastian’s Allyn Bulanadi.
Jaycee Marcelino fired 15 points to lead the Heroes, who missed reigning MVP Jaymar Perez and coach Topex Robinson of Lyceum of the Philippines University.
