Filipino champion Nonito Donaire Jr. finally got his wish after so many years: to be included in the card of his boxing idol Manny Pacquiao.
“The Filipino Flash” will also be at the co-main event of Pacquiao’s comeback fight this November 5, according to boxing promoter Bob Arum.
Donaire, who reclaimed the WBO super bantamweight title following a unanimous verdict over Cesar Juarez last December, will defend the crown against Jessie Magdaleno.
"We are looking to do something really spectacular for all Filipino people," said Arum, referring to the inclusion of Donaire in Pacquiao’s card.
Pacquiao will be making his boxing comeback via his fight against Jessie Vargas on November 5.
The Pacquiao-Vargas fight will take place at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, six months after he was elected Senator.
Arum said that they have allocated 6,800 seats for a price of $50 per ticket.
“The Filipinos who come here who usually watch it on close circuit can watch it for as low as $50, so it’s gonna be packed with Filipino fans," he said.
Arum assured Pacquiao's fellow members in the Senate that Pacman won’t be missing any sessions through the course of the fight, noting that it will take place during a three-week recess in the Senate. - Bev Llorente, ABS-CBN North America News Bureau
