JAKARTA -- (UPDATE 2) The Philippines added another bronze medal to its haul on Monday afternoon after karateka Junna Tuskii defeated her Thai opponent in the women’s -50kg division at the Plenary Hall of the Jakarta Convention Center.
Tsukii, 26, defeated Raksachart Paweena with a score of 4-1 in the bronze medal match in karate.
The Fil-Japanese lost to Babaeva Bakhriniso of Uzbekistan in the quarterfinals, but defeated Alajmi Hawraa of the United Arab Emirates in the first phase of the repechage to stay in the medal hunt.
“Fifty percent happy,” Tsukii said when asked if she was satisfied with her achievement. “But 50%, I want gold… I try to (win) next time.”
Raksachart was a silver medalist in the 2017 Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur, with Tsukii settling for bronze.
