‘GGWP, TNC Pro’

The all-Filipino Dota2 team bowed out in The International 8 (TI8) playoffs after being outwitted by fellow Southeast Asian contender Mineski in Vancouver Tuesday morning.

TNC Pro is composed of Carlo "Kuku" Palad (captain), Armel "Armel" Tabios, Sam "SamH" Hidalgo, Marc Polo "Raven" Fausto, and Timothy "TIMS" Randrup.

Bannered by a mix of Malaysian, Singaporean, Thai and Filipino players, Mineski staged a comeback against TNC Pro to win 1-0 in Round 1 of the lower-bracket playoffs.

TNC Pro was the second team to be eliminated in the tournament, finishing between 14th to 16th places, with a likely cash prize of more than $124,367 (or about P6 million).

The result was lower than TNC Pro's finish in Seattle last year, where they placed ninth to 12th.

TNC Pro had a rough start, being swept by Chinese squad Newbee 2-0 but staged a 2-0 sweep of its own against Vici Gaming, another Chinese squad, on Day 1.

On Day 2, TNC Pro split its first two matches at 1-1 against Brazilian squad paiN gaming and Ukranian-Russian team Virtus Pro. But TNC Pro blew out American Squad OpTic Gaming 2-0 to wrap up Day 2 in second place.

American VJG Storm swept TNC Pro 2-0 while the Filipinos split their two matches against China-based Serenity 1-1 on Day 3.

TNC Pro looked to win a spot in the upper bracket playoffs but fell prey to European squad Team Secret 2-0 for a lower bracket slate on Day 4.

The T18 champion will bring home more than half a billion pesos.
