Asian Games: Pauline Lopez dominates Nepal foe to assure bronze in taekwondo

Filipina taekwondo jin Pauline Lopez booked a semifinal ticket and a sure bronze medal after crushing Gyani Chunara of Nepal, 20-0, in the quarterfinals of the women's -57kg division in the Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta, Indonesia Tuesday.

Lopez established a commanding 10-point lead after the first two rounds before doubling her output in the last round to assure herself of a podium finish in the quadrennial event.

The Southeast Asian Games gold medalist will return to the mat Tuesday afternoon for the semifinal match against Zongshi Luo of China.

Lopez also blanked Xiao Feng of Macau in the round of 16, 8-0, to move to the quarterfinals and beat Chunara.
