Devance nominates James Yap, PJ Simon

MANILA, Philippines – Local basketball players have joined the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge that has been sweeping the Internet.

Among the latest Filipino athletes who joined the cause are Gilas Pilipinas players Jared Dillinger, Marcus Douthit and Marc Pingris.

In an Instagram video, the trio are shown sitting on a bench while Gilas teammates Beau Belga, Brooklyn Nets’ Andray Blatche and June Mar Fajardo dumped ice-cold water on them.

Pingris posted the video, while nominating his San Mig Coffee teammates Joe Devance and Rafi Reavis to take the challenge.

Devance responded with a video of his own.

“Thanks to Marc Pingris, I'm accepting this ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and I'm nominating James Yap, PJ Simon and Mike Gracer," Devance said shortly before being doused by his friends.

The Ice Bucket Challenge is the latest social media craze where celebrities and athletes are dumped with ice-cold water to raise awareness about the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig disease.
