MANILA, Philippines—Ben Adamos and the Perpetual Help Altas made sure the contributions of former head coach Frankie Lim would not be forgotten, as the team paid tribute to the multi-titled mentor in their NCAA Season 95 game against Emilio Aguinaldo College on Tuesday.

Some of the Altas put Lim's initials on the bottom of their shoes, as Adamos showed in his Instagram Stories ahead of the game.

Lim was placed on leave by Perpetual Help management after the team lost to San Beda, 102-56, last week.

"Respect lang, respect," Adamos said of the players' gesture.

Myk Saguiguit, who was named interim coach of Perpetual Help while Lim is on leave, also had his own tribute for the well-respected mentor.

"Meron din akong 'CFL' eh," he said, "Nasa puso ko."

The Altas made sure to give Saguiguit a winning start to his stint, as they claimed an 88-87 triumph over the Generals. But the new head coach acknowledged that the experience was far from a comfortable one for him.

"Hanggang ngayon nga, hindi ko alam na magko-coach ako. Hanggang ngayon. I had many sleepless nights magmula noong nalaman ko ganoon ang nangyari. Hindi ko alam na magko-coach ako ngayon. Wala pang tulog," said Saguiguit.

Lim had steered Perpetual Help to the Final 4 last year, but the Altas have struggled in Season 95. They won just two of their first seven games, a skid capped by the massive loss to the Red Lions last Friday.

Sammy Acaylar, Perpetual Help's athletic director, said Tuesday that Lim was no longer officially attached to the team.

"Coach Frankie is very good, he's a good coach," said Acaylar. "Wala naman kaming magawa dahil siyempre, susunod lang kami sa pinakataas ng management namin."
