Fil-Swiss Chris Hofmann successfully defended his middleweight title by stopping Robert Sothmann of Canada in the main event of URCC XXX at Araneta Coliseum on Saturday.

Hofmann bloodied Sothmann’s face with several head strikes midway through the first round. He later sent the challenger to the mat, punishing him with a brutal ground and pound until the referee halted the contest 4:44 in Round 1.

It was Hofmann’s second title defense since winning the belt in November 2016.

Meanwhile, URCC flyweight king Derrick Easterling retained his crown by knocking out Fight Farm Series champion, one-eyed fighter Jiar Castillo in Round 2.

Kiko Matos also had a successful professional URCC debut by submitting Billy Jack Sanchez via rear naked choke in the first round.
