MANILA, Philippines -- Basketball tournament organizer Jose Ma. Vicente "Joey" Gana Lim IV has passed away from cardiac arrest last Sunday. He was 51.

Lim was the elder brother of former Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) member and former badminton star, Amparo "Weena" Lim.

His wake will be on Friday and Saturday at the Mt. Carmel Church in New Manila.

The eldest of five siblings, Lim is survived by his parents, Jose "Dondo" V. Lim III and Remedios "Baby" P. Gana.

His siblings are Eduardo "EG" Lim, Vicente "Timmy" Lim, Alejandro "Snookie" Lim and Weena Lim.

Joey, as he was fondly called, is best remembered for his tireless and diligent efforts in organizing tournaments, as well as communicating with officials of participating squads on schedules and other matters concerning the competitions he was involved with.

In the 1990s until around 2010, Lim was involved with the Philippine Basketball League.

Since 2007, Lim devoted most of his time during the weekends to conduct the games of the Fr. Martin Cup, a pre-season tournament for varsity teams in the collegiate, women and high school levels.

Last year, he also helped conduct the Fil Oil Flying V pre-season tournament.
