PBA: Unselfish Ginebra deals NLEX 1st loss in Governors' Cup

Joe Devance scored 23 points, and Barangay Ginebra combined unselfish play with excellent outside shooting to beat NLEX 110-97 in the PBA Governors' Cup at Calasiao Sports Complex in Calasiao town, Pangasinan on Saturday.

Hanging on to a 50-48 lead at the half, Ginebra exploded in the third quarter, outscoring NLEX 36-23 to cruise to its third win in 4 games.

LA Tenorio scored 14 of his 17 points in the third, while making 4 3-pointers and dishing out 7 assists.

Scottie Thompson added 11 assists and 3 steals and only 1 turnover in 36 minutes, as the defending champions passed for 32 assists, following up on the 39 they registered in their previous game against Kia.

Ginebra also made 52% of its 3-point attempts (10 of 19).

Justin Brownlee finished with 22 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks, while Greg Slaughter came off the bench to add 10 points, 11 rebounds and 2 blocks.

Aaron Fuller tallied 20 points and 17 rebounds for NLEX, which saw it 4-game winning streak to start the tournament snapped.
