MANILA – Fighting Congressman Manny Pacquiao said his marriage to Jinkee greatly improved after he turned away from his vices and changed his faith.

Pacquiao became a born-again Christian nearly 4 years ago and has since found peace in his married life.

In an interview with Anthony Taberna on “Tapatan ni Tunying” Pacquiao said his relationship with Jinkee was fraught with disputes due to his vices, which included gambling and womanizing.

He said it came to a point when Jinkee even pulled out a knife on him, while he went for his gun.

“Umabot pa ‘yung panahon na hawak siya ng kutsilyo, hawak din ako ng baril,” confessed Pacquiao. “Noon pa yun noong madami pa kong bisyo. Malakas akong mag-inom, sugarol ako, babaero ako. Palaging nagmumura.”

Back then, he was linked to several women, including Krista Ranillo, Ara Mina, Kat Ordones and Valerie Concepcion.

He said his kids, particularly Jimuel and Michael, got affected whenever he fought with Jinkee.

“’Pag umiiyak si Jinkee, umiiyak din yung mga lalaking [anak ko], alam nila pag may problema.”

But when he switched faiths in 2010, he cleaned up his life and made peace with his wife.

“Sabi ko, ayaw kong mangako sa yo. Ilang beses na kong nangako pero ‘di natutupad,” Pacquiao said as he remembered reaching out to Jinkee. “Nasa ‘yo kung gusto mo pa ko o hindi.”

“[Ngayon] hindi na [kami nag-aaway], ‘yung mga maliliit na bagay na lang. Kung nag-aaway man kami, after 5 minutes OK na.”
