Chris McCullough scored 32 points, including San Miguel Beer's last 5, as the Beermen beat Rain Or Shine 111-105 in the 2019 PBA Commissioner's Cup on Saturday.

Christian Standhardinger added 20 points off the bench on an efficient scoring night for San Miguel to take the opener of their best-of-5 semifinals series.

Game 2 is at Mall of Asia Arena on Monday.

The Beermen, who needed to win 2 straight quarterfinal games to advance, were sluggish to start their series with Rain Or Shine at Araneta Coliseum.

Facing a deficit as high as 13 points, San Miguel hung 39 points on the Elasto Painters in the third quarter to take an 85-83 lead.

Late in the fourth, San Miguel was up 106-105 when McCullough asserted himself, finishing a 3-point play then hitting a turnaround jumper to give the Beermen a 6-point lead.

Three futile possessions in a row by Rain Or Shine sealed the Elasto Painters' fate.

Chris Ross contributed 19 points and 5 3-pointers for San Miguel, which saw June Mar Fajardo struggled with just 9 points.

Carl Montgomery led Rain Or Shine with 20 points and 17 rebounds, while teammate Gabe Norwood chipped in 16 points.
