NBA stars tweet appreciation for Pinoy fans

MANILA, Philippines – Filipino basketball fans weren't alone in their happiness over the hoops extravaganza that happened in the country last weekend.

The stars of the National Basketball Association (NBA) who visited the country were also very happy at the reception they got from the Filipino fans.

NBA stars Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, James Harden, Derrick Williams, Tyreke Evans, JaVale McGee, Derek Fisher, Derrick Rose and Kobe Bryant all expressed their appreciation to Filipino fans during and after the Ultimate All-Star Weekend.

"What a WELCOME from the fans here in MANILA!!!," Hornets point guard Chris Paul tweeted upon their arrival to the country.

After their 2-game series against a PBA All-Star selection and the Smart Gilas Pilipinas National team, many of the NBA stars expressed their love for the Philippines and Filipino fans through Twitter.

"I love the Philippines... had so much fun hoopin in front of you all!!" tweeted Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

His teammate, James Harden, also said: "Game was Amazing! Shouts out to Manila Philippines for allowing us to visit and the hospitality!! Hope I come back and visit soon!"

Harden also said that he was going to tour the city and shop before leaving Manila.

Washington Wizards center JaVale McGee, who amazed fans with his array of vicious dunks, tweeted: "so much love in Manila... i appreciate all the love an hope to come back soon!!!"

Derrick Williams of the Minnesota Timberwolves, the only rookie in the group, promised the fans that they will come back to the country.

"Hope y'all had as much fun as we did! Thank you all again! We WILL be back!" Williams tweeted.

Meanwhile, reigning Most Valuable Player Derrick Rose used his Facebook account to express his gratitude.

"Thanks to all my friends in the Philippines who treated me so well during my trip. I had an amazing time and hope to come back in the future... Salamat!!"
