New Orleans rookie star Zion Williamson "fully intends" to rejoin the Pelicans after leaving the NBA bubble at the Walt Disney World complex in Orlando, Florida last week.
The Pelicans announced that Williamson had to leave "to attend to an urgent family matter."
The top overall pick in the 2019 NBA Rookie Draft, Williamson is getting tested for COVID-19 daily, the team assured.
"While there is no current timetable for his return to campus, he fully intends to rejoin the team," the Pelicans added.
"Per NBA protocol, his quarantine period will be determined upon his return."
Williamson, 20, is averaging 23.6 points and 6.8 rebounds per game for a Pelicans team that has a 28-36 record in the NBA's Western Conference.
