MANILA, Philippines -- The Phoenix Fuel Masters have fined embattled forward Calvin Abueva, after "The Beast" was caught playing in a "ligang labas" in Rizal.
Abueva, who remains indefinitely suspended by the PBA, was witnessed playing in a basketball game in Montalban, Rizal -- without the permission of the Fuel Masters.
In a statement, Phoenix said it was "deeply disappointed" in Abueva's actions.
"The team has spoken to Calvin previously and agreed that the cager will use this idle time to reflect on his character while working out on his own both physically and mentally to ready himself for his eventual return once his suspension is lifted," the team said.
Because of this, Phoenix has imposed an "internal fine" on Abueva. No details were revealed on the amount.
"Any further incidents will be dealt with more severity," according to Phoenix.
The Fuel Masters had previously fined Abueva P20,000 for his involvement in a word war with Blackwater rookie Ray Parks and his girlfriend, Maika Rivera.
The PBA then came down hard on Abueva after he committed a flagrant foul on TNT import Terrence Jones during their Commissioner's Cup match-up, imposing an indefinite suspension on "The Beast."
