MANILA, Philippines -- Volleyball remains a big part of Jhoana Maraguinot's future plans, even if she is unsure about returning to Ateneo de Manila University for yet another season.
Maraguinot's comeback to collegiate volleyball was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, as she and the Lady Eagles played just two games before UAAP Season 82 was terminated in early April.
As it stands, she said that making another return is a difficult decision to make. "Personally, ako, matanda na ako," she said during a conversation with other "super seniors" on "The Prospects" podcast recently.
But playing volleyball will always be in the plans for the veteran open spiker.
"If given the chance pa, maglalaro pa rin syempre hanggang kaya," said Maraguinot. "Kasi masaya naman talaga maglaro."
"Ngayon nga, sobrang miss ko na maglaro," she admitted. "Kahit may times na tinatamad ako, pero alam ko sa sarili ko na hinahanap ng katawan ko 'yung workout, mag-digpass lang sa dingding."
"So hangga't kaya ko maglaro, maglalaro ako."
But Maraguinot is not yet sure where she will next be playing, as she is currently not signed to a club team.
"Honestly, ngayon wala," she said. "Dapat, after season ko siya aayusin, pero ayun nga, 'yung plano ko after season, naudlot lahat."
"So ngayon, wala pa, hindi ko pa alam," she added.
Before returning to Ateneo ahead of UAAP Season 82, Maraguinot played for Sta. Lucia in the Philippine Superliga, though her stint was marred by injuries.
