Everybody knows NLEX head coach Yeng Guiao is a fierce mentor on the court.
That now includes Road Warriors rookie Mike Ayonayon, who has
received tips from veteran teammates on how to handle the basketball firebrand.
"Hindi ko dapat didibdibin yung mga sinasabi niya. Yung lang naman advice sa akin ng mga beterano sa amin," he said in an article posted on the PBA website. "Stay focused lang ako sa game."
NLEX picked Ayonayon in the first round of the 2019 regular draft after a notable career with San Juan Knights in the MPBL, where he led them to the championship and was adjudged finals MVP.
"Excited at ninenerbyos kasi si coach Yeng medyo (matindi) magsalita," he said.
Guiao said he likes what he has seen in Ayonayon during the series of tuneup games the Road Warriors played before the season was indefinitely postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"He doesn't play like a rookie," said Guiao. "He is not a project. He is almost a ready-made PBA player."
