Manny Pacquiao appears unbothered by the taunts made by his next opponent, Keith Thurman, ahead of their showdown for the American's WBA (super) welterweight title on Saturday in Las Vegas (Sunday in Manila).
Thurman has not held back on his trash talk, and when the American arrived at the MGM Grand this week, he expressed his intent to knock out the "Pacman."
When informed of Thurman's words, Pacquiao merely laughed.
"It's easy to say, but hard to do it," he said. "We will see. I mean, I'm excited for this. I can't wait."
Pacquiao did admit that Thurman has motivated him, and his best friend and trainer, Buboy Fernandez, does not appear amused by the American's words.
"Basta ano, uuwi kaming kasama ang korona, pauwi ng Pilipinas. Kailangan nating manalo ng knockout para tumahimik na 'yan," Fernandez had said during Team Pacquiao's arrival in Las Vegas.
"I think my opponent helped me get motivated for this fight," Pacquiao himself said.
The Filipino boxing icon said he has worked hard in training, and anticipates a better match than the one he had with Adrien Broner back in January.
"This is gonna be an exciting match," Pacquiao guaranteed. "I'm sure the fans will be happy on Saturday."
Thurman, for his part, was thrilled to find out that his words had fired up the "Pacman."
"Get motivated, Manny! I want the best Manny Pacquiao. I want the real deal Manny Pacquiao," he exclaimed.
"I don't want Manny Pacquiao just thinking about his family and his fans and stuff, I want him training hard. I want him coming for my throat, because I want a great fight," Thurman said.
"This is gonna be a great fight for me and my career, Pacquiao and his career, and one that the fight fans will always remember."
