A new coach with championship pedigree and a defensive mindset is taking over at Imus Khaleb Shawarma GLC Bandera.
Mac Cuan was appointed to the position, the club announced on Tuesday, replacing Buds Reyes.
Imus currently has won just once in 4 games.
"I know his credentials and I know the person that he is," team manager Lou Abad said in a statement.
"Makakasundo namin siya sa team, and he is someone who can help us get off this losing streak."
Cuan was part of the coaching staff of San Miguel Beer Alab Pilipinas that won the 2017-18 ASEAN Basketball League title.
He was also head coach of Alab the season prior, and used to call the shots for Mandaluyong El Tigre in the MPBL Datu Cup.
"I want us to be known as a defensive team," Cuan said.
"We should speed up the game. We will make the game faster and pressure. When I saw the team, I recognized it's a guard-heavy lineup . . . On offense, we want to execute, to run, and take advantage of our speed."
Bandera guard Gerald Anderson said he welcomes the change.
"My other teammates told me the past few practices have been great, and all I hear are good words. All of us are motivated and excited to win on Saturday," he said.
Cuan will make his debut Saturday, when Imus hosts the Soccksargen Marlins at Imus Sports Complex in Cavite.
