Chicago Sky star Candace Parker will be the first female basketball player to appear on the cover of a video game.
Parker, 35, will grace the cover of NBA 2K22 for the WNBA 25th Anniversary special edition when it is released on Sept. 10.
"Extremely proud and humbled to be the first female cover athlete in the history of @NBA2K," Parker wrote on Twitter. "I'm honored to work with a company that's investing in women and betting on us to succeed. I'm hopeful there will be many more badass females to follow."
Parker is a two-time WNBA MVP (2008, 2013) and six-time league All-Star (2011, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2021).
She joins Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic as a cover athlete for the game's regular edition. Current Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant, former Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki and Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar were recognized as cover athletes for the NBA 75th Anniversary Edition.
