World Filipino boxing champion Jerwin Ancajas acknowledged being impressed by American boxer Joshua Franco, a potential opponent.
Franco scored a major upset over Andrew Moloney, battering the Australian fighter en route to a decision win last month and becoming the new WBA junior bantamweight "regular" champion.
"Hindi rin biro 'yung Franco," said Ancajas, who currently staying at Cavite Naval Base.
"Nagulat ako nu'ng makita siyang lumaban, ganoon pala siya lumaro."
His promoter, Top Rank's Bob Arum, has previously said he plans to set Ancajas up for a title unification bout against Franco.
However, Ancajas may have to wait as Moloney has exercised his option to go for a rematch against Joshua.
Ancajas himself may still have to face Jonathan Rodriguez, whom he was supposed to face last April.
The camp of the reigning IBF junior bantamweight champion is currently working on getting clearance for the boxer's flight to the US.
But Ancajas said he looks forward to possiblly meeting Franco inside the ring. "Talagang excited kami," he said.
