MANILA, Philippines — (UPDATE) Naturalized Filipino center Andray Blatche formally joined the national team’s practice for the first time on Monday evening at the Meralco Gym.
Blatche, who arrived in Manila on Saturday morning, was among 14 players who participated in the training session.
Also present were: Kiefer Ravena, Roger Pogoy, Mark Barroca, Raymond Almazan, Gabe Norwood, Beau Belga, Matthew Wright, Robert Bolick, CJ Perez, Marcio Lassiter, June Mar Fajardo, Troy Rosario, and Paul Lee.
Lee, Fajardo, and Rosario were in street clothes and did not take part in the practice.
Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) president Al Panlilio earlier welcomed Blatche, saying: “It is a great development that he is here early to get reacquainted with his teammates and coaches as we get ourselves ready for the FIBA World Cup in China.”
The team will hold a training camp in Spain next month, where they are expected to take part in a pocket tournament.
They will also hold exhibition matches in Manila before they leave for China.
