Glenn Donaire lost to defending champion Ulises "Archi" Solis via unanimous decision Saturday (Sunday in Manila) in a title fight for the IBF junior flyweight crown in Hermosillo, Mexico.

Judges scored the bout 108-120, 108-120 and 107-120 all in favor of Solis.

Fightnews.com said the fight was competitive with both fighters suffering cuts.

With the loss, Donaire dropped to 17-4-1 with 9 knockouts while Solis improved to 27-1-2 with 20 knockouts.

The fight was Donaire’s bid, together with his brother IBF/IBO flyweight champion Nonito, to become the first Filipino siblings to hold world titles at the same time.

Before facing Donaire, Solis also notched successful fights against Filipino boxers Rodel Mayol and Bert Batawang.
