MPBL commissioner Kenneth Duremdes will meet with founder Manny Pacquiao on Monday to discuss the league's future.

This includes a possible transfer to a new network, as ABS-CBN Corp. failed to secure a new franchise for free television.

"Regarding sa new TV network, iyon ang idi-discuss natin. Definitely, we will look for another network. Hindi nabigyan ng franchise ang network natin so wala, malungkot tayo. It's not in our hands anymore," said Duremdes.

The MPBL has yet to conclude the Lakan Cup season, as it was forced to suspend the semifinals when the pandemic broke out.

The MPBL, which calls the S+A channel its home since its inception in 2018.

Duremdes said the league will be forced to proceed even without TV coverage as their block time deal with ABS-CBN expired last March.

"Definitely 'yung natitirang games walang coverage, kasi 'yung natitirang 5 games lang 'yun maximum," he said.

The commissioner said that even Pacquiao was closely monitoring the congressional hearings of the ABS-CBN franchise.

" 'Yun din ang inaantay niya siguro, inaantay natin ang decision ng Congress, pero di natin nakuha," he said. "We have to move on, discuss plans for the next season."

The MPBL commissioner, currently staying in his home province South Cotabato, will be meeting Pacquiao in General Santos City.
