MANILA, Philippines -- F2 Logistics made quick work of Marinerang Pilipina, 25-7, 25-9, 25-19, for a clean sweep of the first round of the 2019 Philippine Superliga (PSL) All-Filipino Conference on Thursday at the Muntinlupa Sports Center.
The Cargo Movers easily dismissed the league newcomers in the first two sets as they grabbed their seventh win in a row in the club tournament.
Filipino-American star Kalei Mau led the charge with 10 kills and two aces for 12 points, while Ara Galang contributed 10 markers for the Cargo Movers.
"This is big for us," said coach Ramil de Jesus. "It's a huge morale-booster for us as we head to the second round."
"At least, we saw the potential of our team whenever we play healthy. It shows the we can sweep a series of games," he added.
The Cargo Movers needed to survive the Lady Skippers' gallant stand in the third set, as the frame was tied at 17 before F2 Logistics uncorked six straight points to gain a 23-17 advantage.
Marinerang Pilipina managed to add two more points, before Majoy Baron put the finishing touches on the win.
"My starters are jelling well and doing great, that’s why we easily won the first two sets and our opponents were late in showing aggressiveness," said de Jesus. "But in the third set, some of my substitute players weren’t ready and that caused us a close encounter."
Marinerang Pilipina gave up 25 errors in the loss, and nobody reached double digits in scoring. Chiara Permentilla was the lone bright spot with nine points and 12 digs, as her team remained winless in six games.
