The Batangas City—Tanduay Athletics defended their turf Tuesday night by hacking out a tough 72-65 win against the pesky Makati Skyscrapers in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Datu Cup at Batangas City Coliseum.

Teodoro led the Athletics with 19 points to make up for his so-so performance in their previous game and help Batangas deal Makati’s first defeat in the tournament.

Jhaymo Eguilos, returning from injury, added 17 points while Lester Alvarez chipped in 12 for Batangas, which now has a 2-1 record similar to Makati.

Jeckster Apinan led the way for the Skyscrapers with 16 points.

In the curtain-raiser, Mar Villahermosa fired 29 points to go with 5 steals to lead the Caloocan Longrich Supremos past the winless Rizal Crusaders-Xentro Mall 92-80.

It was the second victory in 3 outings for Caloocan.

JR Cawaling finished with 11 points.

Marco Balagtas had 13 points for Rizal.
