PBA: For Paul Lee, spectator-less arena could zap players’ energy

Paul Lee acknowledged that playing in a spectator-less arena will take some getting used to based on his experience.

"Na-try namin (Gilas). May window sa atin na sa Araneta (Coliseum) ginawa na wala talagang tao. Iba 'yung feeling," the premier playmaker said in an article posted on the PBA website, referring to their game against Qatar in September 2018.

They won that game 92-81, but obviously there was something missing despite their victory.

Lee said it felt just like practice.

"Iba 'yung feeling. Nakakababa ng energy 'yung laro, parang iniisip mo na sa practice lang kayo or nagtu-tune up lang kayo. Ganu'n 'yung feeling," Lee said.

The PBA is expected to enforce strict health protocols if and when live games are finally allowed to be played.

But Lee said that, like all PBA players, he has no choice but to get used to the new normal.

"Kailangan masanay tayo doon kasi 'yun lang ang puwede nating gawin," said the three-time PBA champion.

"Ang importante lang dito ay makabalik tayong lahat sa gusto nating mangyari."
