MANILA, Philippines -- (UPDATE) San Sebastian College put on a show in a huge 82-51 rout of Jose Rizal University (JRU) in their first game of the NCAA Season 95 men's basketball tournament on Tuesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Leading the way for the Golden Stags was RK Ilagan, who put up 25 points and 5 assists, while making five three-pointers. Alvin Capobres added 16 points, while Allyn Bulanadi -- still recovering from a left shoulder injury -- entered late and scored 7 points in just two minutes.

"I was just challenging the boys," said San Sebastian coach Egay Macaraya. "Sa media, laging lumalabas ang San Sebastian na kasama sa Final 4. I guess, na-challenge naman ang mga bata."

"They showed a good game tonight, especially sa defense," he added.

After scoring just 14 points in the opening frame, San Sebastian exploded for 21 in the second quarter to take a 35-22 lead at the half.

They continued to pour it on in the third quarter, with Ilagan nailing back-to-back three-pointers in the final minute that gave them a 61-40 lead heading into the final frame.

Itchie Altamirano and Capobres opened the fourth period with three-pointers of their own, and Ilagan added another long-range bomb as the Golden Stags roared to a 70-43 advantage.

But the biggest highlight of the game came with under four minutes left, when Ken Villapando took a perfect dime from Ilagan and soared for a slam dunk.

Bulanadi, who injured his shoulder while playing in the PBA D-League, came in with under three minutes left and immediately produced. He made all 3 of his field goals, and showed no ill effects from his injury.

No player reached double-digits for the Heavy Bombers. Marq Dionisio and Stefan Steinl each had 8 points, while veteran guard MJ dela Virgen was limited to 6 markers. JRU shot only 32.26% from the field, and committed 25 turnovers that the Stags translated to 31 points.

The loss spoiled the NCAA debut of Louie Gonzales, who took over as JRU head coach from Vergel Meneses.
