MANILA - Filipino-American tennis player Treat Huey and partner Max Mirnyi are one game away from the finals of the Wimbledon men's doubles competition.
Huey and Mirnyi won their quarterfinal game to advance to the semifinals of the Wimbledon men's double Wednesday night.
The Filipino and his partner defeated Jonathan Marray and Adil Shamasdin 6-4, 7-6 (5), 6-3, at the Grand Slam event.
Huey is eyeing a spot at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. His bid for the Olympics got a boost after sports patron Henri Lhuillier decided to extend his support for Huey after bankrolling the Philippine team's successful campaign in the recent Davis Cup.
The Filipino netter made it to the semifinals of the 2016 Australian Open mixed doubles and quarterfinals of the men's doubles. He also won a title in Acapulco.
