MANILA, Philippines – With Jeron Teng struggling, Flying V banked on its supporting cast to pull off a 94-86 conquest of Racal Motors and keep its immaculate record intact in the 2017 PBA D-League Foundation Cup on Monday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Coach Eric Altamirano went to his second unit and they delivered, with Gab Banal and Aris Dionisio taking charge in the fourth period.

Banal made three of his six triples for 17 points, 11 of which came in the final frame, while also grabbing six rebounds and coming up with two steals. Dionisio, meanwhile, imposed his will in the shaded lane and scored nine of his 13 points in the fourth period, while also registering seven rebounds.

Flying V improved to 5-0, still at the top of the league standings.

"Our first group struggled today, but it's a good thing that our second group stepped up," said Altamirano. "We made some stops at the end."

"But the problem is still the same – we're very inconsistent," he rued.

Thomas Torres contributed 17 points, two rebounds, and two assists for the Thunder, which saw main man Teng limited to 11 points on 4-of-18 shooting.

Racal made a huge push early in the fourth frame, taking a 70-67 lead with 8:41 remaining. However, Banal and Dionisio sparked a 10-0 to retake the lead, 77-70, midway through the fourth period, and the Thunder held off the Alibaba from that point.

Rian Ayonayon paced Racal Motors with 28 points and nine rebounds, while Gwynne Capacio, Jamil Ortuoste, and Mac Tallo all had 10 markers in the loss.

Racal lost for the third consecutive game and dropped to 2-3.
