Mark Barroca paid tribute to his hometown in Zamboanga by leading Magnolia past Meralco on Saturday. PBA Media Bureau

Hometown hero Mark Barroca scored 21 points to steer Magnolia past Meralco 99-88 in the 2019 PBA Commissioner's Cup at MVA City Coliseum in Zamboanga City on Saturday.

Barroca went 5 of 6 attempts from the field and also dished out 7 assists as the Hotshots cruised to their fifth win in the tournament.

Paul Lee added 18 points, including 4 treys while James Farr tallied a double-double of 19 points and 17 rebounds.

The Bolts, who brought in new reinforcement Delroy James, failed to check their skid and fell to 3-6.

James led the way for Meralco with 35 points and 10 rebounds but could not save his team when Magnolia started to pull away in the fourth.

The scores:

Magnolia 99 - Barroca 21, Farr 19, Lee 18, Sangalang 11, Jalalon 9, Melton 6, Simon 5, Pingris 4, Herndon 3, Dela Rosa 3, Brondial 0.

Meralco 88 - James 35, Newsome 10, Tolomia 8, Hodge 6, Faundo 6, Jackson 5, Quinto 3, Salva 2, Amer 2, Canaleta 2, Caram 2, Pinto 0, Hugnatan 0.

Quarterscores: 32-15, 51-53, 72-63, 99-88
