Timofey Nastyukhin is a certified hard-hitter and the guys at Team Lakay know that.
But Team Lakay head coach Mark Sangiao pointed out that the Russian KO artist has been stopped twice in his career.
That’s what they are looking at as they prepare Honorio Banario for his clash with the Russian fighter in the semis of the ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix this August 2.
“Proven na si Nastyukhin. Pero nakita rin natin na na-knock out rin siya,” said Sangiao, referring to Nastyukhin’s first round knockout defeat to fellow Russian Saygid Guseyn Arslanaliev in September last year.
Sangiao said if Banario can connect one big shot on Nastyukin’s chin, the fight could be over.
That is why they need a full proof game plan that could expose that chin, he said.
“So unahan na lang dito. Dapat confident at mag-ensayo ng husto (si Honorio),” said the Team Lakay coach.
Banario got a second shot at the ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix after Lowen Tynanes — the fighter who beat him in the quarterfinals — bailed out from the tournament due to an injury.
Nastyukhin, on the other hand, advanced to the semis after beating up former UFC fighter Eddie alvarez in the other quarterfinals pairing.
