Cignal-Ateneo crushes CEU to clinch PBA D-League crown

MANILA, Philippines – Cignal-Ateneo was crowned as the 2019 PBA D-League champion on Tuesday, after dominating Centro Escolar University (CEU), 98-66, in Game 4 at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

It was the Blue Eagles' first title in the developmental league, winning in their first foray. 

Cignal-Ateneo wasted no time in taking control of the game as they opened the game on a 27-5 run. They shot 75% from the field, seizing a 38-10 advantage after the first quarter.

That set the tone for the rout, with the Blue Eagles leading by as much as 37 points, 79-42, thanks to a Gian Mamuyac and-1 late in the third quarter.

Ivorian slotman Ange Kouame tallied a double-double with 18 points, 16 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. Will Navarro scored 13 of his 16 points in the first quarter, while Thirdy Ravena had an all-around effort of 15 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 assists.

Isaac Go, the conference MVP, had 7 points and 7 rebounds.

Rich Guinitaran starred for the valiant CEU squad in the bridesmaid finish with 20 points, four rebounds, and three steals.
