Kevin Ferrer had a breakout game in his debut for Northport, which blasted Blackwater 127-99 in the 2019 PBA Commissioner's Cup at Cuneta Astrodome on Saturday.
Ferrer, recently acquired from Barangay Ginebra together with Sol Mercado and Jervy Cruz, scored 28 points to go with 5 rebounds and 6 assists while the Batang Pier got a share of the lead in the standings with a 7-1 record.
Cruz added 16 points for the Batang Pier, who got 14 from Mercado.
NorthPort led by as many as 38 points, showing it can manage despite trading away prized guard Stanley Pringle to Ginebra.
Blackwater, on the other hand, had to play all-Filipino for the second straight game with the exit of Alex Stepheson, who left the team for good because of an illness.
Ray Parks Jr. scored 25 points for Blackwater. Rabeh Al-Hussaini chipped in 16 for the Elite, who fell to 4-3.
