Despite Gerald Anderson’s solid game, Imus Bandera got overwhelmed by Bacoor City Strikers, 79-57, in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Lakan Cup on Thursday at Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium.

The Kapamilya star came up with 14 points and 4 rebounds, but these weren’t enough to offset Bacoor’s Gab Banal, Mark Montuano, and Michael Canete.

Banal had another MVP performance with 17 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Montuano chipped in 18 points and 6 boards, while Canete finished with 17 markers and 7 rebounds.

Bacoor checked Jayjay Helterbrand, who was limited to just 8 points.

Imus fell to 1-1 as Bacoor bounced back from its opening loss to climb to 1-1.

In the other game, General Santos Warriors frustrated Bulacan Kuyas at home with an 81-77 defeat.

John Orbeta paced the Warriors with 16 points and 7 rebounds, while Robbie Celiz had a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Gensan now shares the same record with Bulacan with 1-1 each.
