Manila Stars-Frontrow recovered from a sluggish start to hack out a tough 86-85 win over the Quezon City Capitals-Wemsap on Tuesday in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Lakan Cup at Ynares Center-Antipolo.
Aris Dionisio came up with a double-double performance of 21 points, 12 rebounds and 2 blocks, including the defensive gem on PJ Barua’s potential game winner in the dying seconds of the game.
Marvin Lee came off the bench with 17 points for the Stars, who also got 12 markers from former pro Carlo Lastimosa.
In the other game, Makati City-Super Crunch shackled Rizal Golden Coolers en route to a 73-51 rout.
Joseph Sedurifa paced Makati with 15 points and 5 rebounds, while John Rey Villanueva added 14.
But it was the Super Crunch's defense which killed the Golden Coolers, who were held to just 23 points in the first half.
