Super Featherweight contenders Aston "Mighty" Palicte of the Philippines and Kazuto Ioka of Japan both successfully made weight for their upcoming WBO Super Featherweight World Championship bout on Wednesday, June 19th at the Makhuari Messe in Chiba, Japan.
Palicte came in at 114.6-pounds, while Ioka weighed in at 114.4-pounds.
This will be the second attempt at the WBO's 115-pound title for both competitors, as Palicte faced fellow Filipino Donnie "Ahas" Nietes to a Split Draw for the same title back in September of 2018.
On the very final day of 2018, Nietes would go on to claim the WBO title, this time defeating Ioka via Split Decision in Macau.
After Palicte regained his status as the top contender to the title, Nietes made the decision to relinquish the WBO title to "seek bigger fights with the world champions of the other organizations."
"Also, I would want to give my fellow Filipino Aston Palicte a chance to fight for the World title to bring pride and glory to our country," Nietes also stated.
The 28-year old Palicte, a native of Bago City, Negros Occidental, owns a 25-2-1 professional record with 21 wins coming via knockout.
Ioka, 30, is 23-2 in his career with 13 knockouts.
