MANILA, Philippines — Gilas Pilipinas cadets Kobe Paras and Ricci Rivero will join the core of the TNT KaTropa in the Philippine team that will compete in the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia.
ESPN5, quoting national team coach Chot Reyes, reported Monday that Rivero and Paras along with former De La Salle University big man Abu Tratter made it to the 12-man line-up.
TNT stars Jayson Castro and Terrence Romeo will headline the squad, along with Roger Pogoy, Jericho Cruz, Don Trollano, Anthony Semerad, Troy Rosario and Kelly Williams.
Naturalized Filipino center Andray Blatche completes the 12-man line-up.
The PBA Board came up with the idea of sending the core of TNT to the Asian Games in August, after it became clear that the multi-sport event will clash with the schedule of not just the PBA Governors’ Cup, but also with the build-up to the second round of the FIBA World Cup qualifiers.
The Philippines finished in seventh place in the basketball competition of the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon.
The 2018 Asian Games will run from August 18 to September 2.
